Dress for the RE'LOVE'UTION

whatever this brave new world throws at us we are going to need something to wear!

This is a traditional Chapan ( meaning outer Garment) from Uzbekistan. It is not vintage. It is quilted with vertical stitches and cotton padding inside. It is quite big, it would fit a man as well and the arms are long, they look nice folded up with the red Floral lining showing. It is well stitched and good quality.

It is made with cotton that has been dyed using the traditional Ikat technique.  The Ikat dying is actually mind-boggling and I am sure there are many who will read this who know much more about it than me, but basically, the threads are knotted, then dyed. Then the knots are untied and that creates the pattern. It is tied and dyed as many times as is needed to create the pattern. This Chapan is made from very fine cotton that was woven on a handloom in narrow widths

The Sun Fire Coat is so thick, warm and cosy. I can imagine it on the beach after wild swimming or in a festival or camping trip or my best thing to come home to snuggle up in every night in winter
