Description

These Tribal Shawls are 100 X 200 cm

They are designed and produced in small batches in the Himalayas in Northern India by a Spanish woman who has made her home and married there. The motifs running through the collection are inspired by the motifs on the traditional, handwoven shawls of the Kullu Valley region where they are produced but they are finer with a modern feeling.

I find the design and colour palettes in these stoles and shawls so brilliantly composed and, to be honest, I have seen a lot of shawls in my time! I value high quality, natural materials and I love traditional techniques and heritage motifs. I also love evolution and innovation. For me, these shawls really merge the two worlds so delicately and gracefully.

Modern weaving techniques give them an intricacy of design and composition that would take uncountable hours, months and months to weave on a handloom. So using modern weaving techniques, with local labour, combined with imported quality yarns and employing traditional tribal motifs with subtle, modern colour palettes really works for me

I only have one piece of many of the shawls photographed.

Hand wash in cold water with gentle detergent, do not tumble dry
